Remington Rand 1911A1 Help!!!
I am new to this forum and am looking for some help in determining the value of a Remington Rand that I just inherited. I have a Remington Rand 1911A1 that has a Type II slide markings, original DuLite finish, stamped "P" proof mark, stamped FJA Col. Frank J. Atwood inspectors stamp and stamped with the ordinance inspectors stamp. It is also stamped United States Property, M1911A1 US ARMY, NO. 1003***. From the research that I have done I think it was manufactured in 1943. The gun was carried by a family friend during WWII and has minor holster wear and NO scratches, dings, pitting or rust. I would say that the original finish is about 95%. I also have two original mags and the gun is fully functional however I have not shot it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Will you post a close up picture of the right side of the frame, specifically where the M1911 U.S.ARMY is. Your existing picture looks like it's either been dented in while it was being roll marked or someone tried to grind the marks off at one time and then touched up the dulite blue in that area. Hopefully it's nothing or maybe just the way the lighting is.
Overall, the pistol looks great and is a very desirable Type II RR

Pardon my ignorance, what is a "dulite" finish? Is it matte blued (like Blue on a rough surface) or is it a dark magnesium phosphate parkerized finish. I had an arsenal refinished carbine with a black parkerized finish.

I had some contact with this fellow several months ago about
the same RR. He seems to think this is the only Du-Lite RR on the
web for sale. After much back on forth, he informed me that a
"local expert" had told him it was a $3800 1911-A-1.
Like I told him then and will tell him now, it's worth about 50%
that amount. It's been posted all over the place and he still
"kicking tires" with it. "DREAMING" that what I call it and him.

For a Remington Rand WWII 1943 Type II in excellant condition with all the correct markings visable and a good, marked same period barrel, (the right side of the barrel lug has an "HS" and on the left side a "P"), that has not been refinished, the going price is between $1000 and $1800.
An extra original mag will bring a few dollars more.
The original mags will have one of the following letters located on the top of the magazine base lip. "G" was made by the General Shaver Division of Remington Rand and was used exclusively on Remington Rand 1911-A1's. Other magazines have an "S" (Scovill Mfg, Co,), "R" (Risdon Mfg. Co.), "L" (M.S. Little Mfg. Co.)
The value, of course is all relative to the collector, you may get more or less depending on what the collector is willing to pay.If you have any documentation of where it saw service, any well known battles, and who carried it, a well known officer(war Hero) etc. the value may go up.
An original holster and pistol belt also may increase the value for you.
I hope this was helpful, good luck....

I'm certainly no expert, but I would expect an original type II in excellent condition to bring about $2,000 or more. Certainly earlier versions would bring more and a very late one might be as low as $1,800.

An accurate range for a Type III, but not a Type II. A very strong Type II will still command $2,200.- and up, based on serial number and condition.
