M8 vs. M8A1 Scabbards
Why would someone remove the wire hanger on this scabbard? I believe that this is the later M8 scabbard, that was actually for the M4 bayonet, that should have the wire hanger. Looks like the hanger was removed.
Were these actually designated M8A1 even though they were still using the M8 marked throats?

Great collection. Thanks for the pics and info. I think the one in the auction is actually an M8A1 that has had the hook removed. It has the long frog, which I don't think ever came without the hook, originally. I do have a short frog that has had a hook added.
