which is worth more
Which would be worth the most. An 1890 Winchester pump in 22 short cal. Used origional condition with blue turned to a dullish black and stocks origional finish. Or a Japanese type 99 with mum completely gone but everything matching with monopod and dustcover not sure if dust cover matches.

Now that's some apples and oranges.
I'd go for the Winchester since this is the .22 forum and I like Winchester 1890s.

That Jap is worth, maybe, 300,350 if excellent. I'm sure the winchester is worth allot more IF ORIGINAL finish and parts. That "dullish black" does not sound original to me. They were rust blued and that usually turns, surprise, brown.

im with dave in every respect ,
the T99 is a bit complicated in that some series comand a premium , but the missing mum is not adding a thing and the other bits while nice are out there in repros as well , lots more needs to be known to get beyond $100-300 ,
the 1890 is a very collectible peice even when refinished , but if its original - id look for plumb/brown and case hardened receiver if it were me , would easily double the T99 any day , that said there is just too much to think about without photos and better info reguarding markings

I forgot to mention it is the take down model 1890. I haven't looked at it in 9 years so i pulled it out. It looks alot better than i thought. the blue is not a dull black nor is it brown .its not a bright blue but it is a blue and has not been refinished. my brother bought it at agun show for 45.00 in the later 60's.
