Unusual grenade-launcher model

Here're couple of number one grenade launcher rifles, nothing special, just run-of-the-mill Century imports from a few years ago. Note that the one, though, has a steel clamp around the forestock instead of the usual wire-wrap. I've not seen one like this before. Is this an uncommon variant?

Nice rifles. Front and rear steel band reinforcements were developed in India during the 1950's and are less common than the wire version. Unusual to see a mix of both types on the same weapon-maybe the front wire became undone and a band was simpler to install.

Be interesting to see how it hinges at the top or is it simply sprung steel. Over engineered if you ask me because we know that wire binding will not separate if the barrel bursts/bulges. Nor will it separate if a grenade explodes in the cup.

Mind you, if you have got 60 million people to keep employed..........

Just sprung steel, no hinge.
