    IE versus Firefox

If I access the forum through Internet Explorer (Windows 8.1) the "quote" function does not work."
If I use Firefox, it works.

Any idea why? Is there a fix? The "compatibility" switch has no effect.

    Good morning Patrick ..

I'm not sure how to help ...

I notice you've posted here using FireFox 43.0, which is what I use. In also use Safari and Chrome. I stopped using IE because Microsoft ceased supporting and fixing it.

On March 17, 2015, Microsoft announced that Microsoft Edge will replace Internet Explorer as the default browser on its Windows 10 devices. This effectively makes Internet Explorer 11 the last release. Internet Explorer will, however, remain on some versions of Windows 10 primarily for enterprise purposes. Starting January 12, 2016, only the most recent version of Internet Explorer on each operating system will be supported. Support varies based on the operating system's technical capabilities and its support lifecycle.
What operating system are you using?

Please go to the link "Whats My User Agent?"

    Whats My User Agent?

You will see something that looks like this...

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.10; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0 and an IP address shown below that.

Please copy and paste the UserAgent string and the IP address shown into a PM PRIVATE MESSAGE, that it says you are using.

    Thanks...

    Regards,
    Doug

PM sent without IP address. It is the same in both cases. Do you really need it?
Thanks for taking the time and trouble to look at this.

BTW, if I observed correctly, the trouble only started when I installed Windows 8.

I'm running windows10 without drama on this forum, and the work computers seem to do fine with windows7, but I can't access P'bucket anymore that way, so the 2nd hand laptop purchased at the pawnshop/gunshop (via wifi) is default.

Sorry Doug, must be an "irrecoverable user error". Probably because I tried to put both "Agent" results into one mail. 1+1 = 0?
Now writing this under Firefox, will try the User Agent trick, send the result, and then switch off and then on again using IE. So please expect 2 PMs - if all goes well.

    Repeat with IE

    OK, now repeated using IE.

BTW, the profile records claim that I did send you the PM yesterday. If you did not receive it, then there is a black hole somewhere in the system.

But don't let it worry you, have a HAPPY NEW YEAR

    Thanks Patrick ..

I have sent a reuqest off to a friend who's a a tech support guru...

I suspect that it has something to do with Javascript support in your IE, which isn't working properly with our site (maybe not set-up correctly with preferences) , whereas it is working properly when you use FireFox.

    Will advise..

    Regards,
    Doug
