1907 Quillion
I've had this hookie for about a year now, and while it came from a pretty honest circumstance ( a dusty pile of enfield bayonets at a junk shop ) where it looked to have been sitting a long time....it remains abit of a mystery. It doesn't fit a SMLE bayonet lug, and sort of looks like the trials version of the 1907 Hooked Quillion as described by Skennerton. The date looks faintly like '11, but I can't account for it not fitting.

It looks like it won't fit because the "ring" is bent backwards about 30 degrees.

It's actually that the part that accepts the bayonet lug is too small for an SMLE bayonet lug. It's so strange because everything else looks right to me.

I see. It might just need to be dressed up with a file. Sometimes they get bent and/or boogered. Is it close in size but, just not quite?

Like the others have said, maybe it's just beaten a bit out of shape and just needs a bit of TLC for it to fit...

Looking at pics in other thread and as Jim says, it is bent just below the muzzle ring, Its possible to straighten it without heat and make up a simple jig and press it straight, once straight then you may need to work on the inner dimensinons of the muzzle ring but start with getting it straight first.
The muzzle ring itself could be a little oval due to the bend so would make up a dolly or two and use these to re-form the muzzle ring, at the last stage there may be the need for a slight file but dont go near it with a file untill the above is complete and your cofident with a file.
If it does need a file then this area will need to be blued or browned depending on the colour (I cant tell by the pics).
Obvious you need to take the grips off before any work, don't want to teach how to suck eggs but I,ve seen some strange working practices in the past......
If your a bit unsure then I would leave it as is, maybe trade it at a later date, or sell it to me.

Gentlemen,
Thank you for your advice, but I think I have mis-spoken. What is at issue is the size of the "female end" of my bayonet, not the ring. It is smaller than a normal "male end" of an SMLE ( found on the underside of the nose cap, rather than the end) will fit into. I have taken a comparison picture and added it to my photobucket. The Hookie is on the left and a normal 1915 made 1907 is on the right.
Again thank you so much for your help...I really hope to get to the bottom of this one.

See what you mean Rahllo, I can only think maybe a P14/M1917 pommel has been grafted on at some time, haven't got a 14 or 17 bayonet to compare with so its just a guess, it looks like the muzzle ring has been opened up comparing it with the other.
I was thinking early P13 trials bayonet at first, but muzzle ring is too low ( P13/ P14/M1917) muzzle ring is higher.
