Question Most accurate book on these guns?

    Hello all,

I recently joined this forum when I purchased my first M1icon Carbine, a 1943 Rock-Ola, which is currently my latest obsession. Hope to find some good info here and maybe some parts as well. BTW, which is the most accurate book on these guns? I have several and there seems to be conflicting opinions. Thanks!

In my opinion Larry Ruth's "War Baby" is the best book on the M1icon carbine. Runs about $55/$65. Everyone has their own personal favorite.

Your avatar would have been a great bomber nose art.

If you can get the set of" War Baby" and "War Baby comes Home"

Get both as the second volume has some added material that may be of interest. The thing that sells War Baby is that it is a great story of how American industry stepped up and did what had to be done. You can just pick it up and start anywhere and it is a great read. Absolutely worth whatever you have to pay to get it. I have Reische's book, but don't know where it is, read it once and that's it. I read War Baby every week.

I like Bruce Canfield's books as well. Not nearly as deep as War Baby, but still a good reference.

    - change it back -

The books I would recommend are "War Baby" of course, Riesch's "M1icon carbines, wartime production" and Ruth and Duffs "The M1 Carbine"(primarily for manufacture dates).

war baby deals mostly the design and developement of the carbine, its info is very vague but it is a MUST have if your going to be serious. also, there was a rumor about a year ago about war baby 3 coming out, i heard on another board that it is going to be a pocket sized in depth book like j c harrisons, which isnt too bad if you know which mistakes to correct, it also has nice charts on stock stampings.,also craig reich's is also nice

Thanks for the replies, guys! Pictures coming soon.

The avatar is Charisma Carpenter of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" & "Angel" fame. This photo is probably the best work she's done...

What's the opinion of the J.C. Harrison book? I have that one, but I heard a couple bad things about it.

"War Baby" is next on the list.

    Joe
