    Front Sight

    Greeting, gents
If this has been covered before, my apologies.
Was the front sight height the same for all carbines, particularly the early flip rear models, and the later adjustable rear sight models?
    Thanks for the help.

At first they were. They were filed down for proper sighting.

Some Carbines had numbers on the side of the front sight. The numbers corresponded to the heigth of the blade (IE-Irwin Pedersen, S'G').

Wasn't that number applied after the sight was installed and sighted or was it out of the sight bin?

The number was applied after test firing. The sight blade was then ground down to the height specified by tha number.
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!
