    Springfield 1873 Carbine - SN 42277

I've been meaning to post this for a while. Just now getting around to it.

If anyone out there happens to have this carbine, I know where it was in October of 1877.
Apparently, the fellow it was issued to had it stolen from him while in Deadwood! Or so his story went....

I can't attest to the authenticity of the letter but the auction company claimed all the items came from a museum in Deadwood.

Unfortunately, this went a bit higher than I felt like spending but I nabbed the pictures to share with you folks.
