The band differs from others, EFD is probably the best bet, I waited years for another company to send one and it was dire...
The fore end for the No1 Mk V is different as it doesnt have the cut out for the sight protector and the hole underneath for the screw, A No1 Mk 111 can be used and the cut filled, very early EFD ones were conversions of the Mk 111, very hard to spot and only seen in a certain light and angle, I did a poormans rebuild of a MkV its in the stickies in the restorers corner, an interesting rife the No1 Mk V, I sold my original last year, to fund something else...... Then sold the something else for something else

Well......., it all depends on what sort of No1 Mk5 you have! There were two projects. The 21 shilling 'new build' and the 18 shilling conversion from the original No1 Mk3. But even the new build was going to utilise existing Mk3 and 3/1 barrels that conformed to the '....highest specification'* The conversion used the existing fore-end - and it seems from the samples that we had, could be either Mk3 or 3/1 variants of rifle and fore-ends. So you could quite safely and realistically simply convert your fore-end. I really don't know why the bands are different given that the fore-end is identical (sort of, albeit modified to suit.....) but if it's simply the length, then shortening or lengthening one to suit would be a simple job. Wouldn't defeat me for more than an hour!!!!
* barrels that were still in their 1st quarter of life and/or met the highest gauge limit. I forget the exact words used

I have one of the EFD repro bands available complete with the screw if interested.

What's the difference as a matter of interest Brian?

Quite a substantial amount actually. I remember us discussing that way back then.

Yep, got that. But fairly simple to make from flat I'd say. Thanks all
