those boots like kinda hi polish for that photo

those boots look black color and are not the type used during the Korean War. Bet the photo is from 1959 or early 60's

You are right, Robert... when I took Basic in 1960 they were still using up brown boots. Some guys got black, but some got brown and a bottle of leather dye. "Brown shoe Army" became the denigration for anything old fashioned or outmoded.
Real men measure once and cut.
