    Field made 30rd magazine ?

I'd like to share a Vintage photo found by David Alberts showing a GI with what looks to be 2- 15rd magazines soldered or welded together to make a 30 rder.
2nd picture shows the solder or welded joint.
Also a link below to its topic on the Carbine Collectors Club Forum and replies.
I was curious how they did the spring (s).
Has anyone seen one like it ?
    Thoughts ?

    Thank You David,

I bet you could solder the springs together top to bottom and it would work. That way it doesn't get too hot and lose it's temper... The pic of the joint is terrible, just enlarged. Doesn't show much.

I was going to do something similar with some Remington 760 mags and make a 20 rd mag...out of steel. Just cut off tops and bottoms like this one and spot them together with wire feed. Use an M14icon mag spring...
    Regards, Jim

Similar to the M16icon extended mag thread that we had recently.

I would say a soldered joint, as the link suggests, but I don't think that it would be very strong if it was just a "butt joint". To be a strong soldered joint in this instance, I would suggest, the joint would need to be "overlapped", to be a strong soldered joint. Otherwise, "out in the field", one sharp knock and you lose the whole bottom half of your mag.
