Austrailian barrels?
Not just a lot of markings on the barrel of the L1A1 my son and I built last summer. I did notice that my kit's barrel is chrome lined and the flash hider is a 1974 Enfield piece. Not much for markings on the gas block either. Most of the rest is either Enfield or BSA.
There are some markings on the knox form but mostly cryptic letters....does that sound like an Australian barrel?
Thanx HT

I would need to consult my book, but I think Lithgow started by chroming the chamber and shifted to chroming chamber and bore in the late 1960's.
I don't think the
British and Canadians chromed barrels, but I stand ready to be corrected.
If the gas block lacks any marking, then it's Lithgow.
Canadian c1/c2 barrels were chrome bore and chamber from day 1.
c1 gas blocks have no markings...
British L1 barrels were chrome lined from an early point...

Ah, there we go. I have a little knowledge on the inch pattern, but as the old saying goes ... 'A little knowledge is a dangerous thing'

I'll take the handguards off next time I clean the beast and record the barrel markings. Lots of markings and part numbers on everything else. I appreciate the answers.
