Rebarrelling an Ex PU Sniper (?)
Just wondering who / where one would go about considering such a task. Is this ever done? Or a Fool's errand?
The rifle in question was kind of a misappropriation of efforts, funds and resources from the beginning. It was an ex-sniper that I resnipered many many years ago in my early collecting days. Problem is the bore is kind of rough explaining why it was probably decommissioned. Anyway, now that I have a few other legit PUSnipers the thing doesn't shoot as well and rarely makes it to the range since I discovered such.
Is there anyone out there that does this kind of work? I'd be interested in exploring.

Will a replacement barrel index and headspace? I don't know. If it will, rebarreling would be no more difficult than changing the barrel on any other service rifle. A barrel vise and receiver wrench would be needed.
Has anyone swapped barrels on a Mosin Nagant?

I did find a source of 91/30 milsurp barrels in VG condition for under $200. A bit more money and could get a new one w/o a mystery as to performance? Since it's resnipered, technically, it's already been altered from it's original "collector" status. I'm not out to build a Precision Rifle either . On the fence of how far to go with this. Definitely would need to get connected with a guy for installation either locally, or nationally. I don't mid shipping/waiting.
I did research that McGowan Precision Barrels makes nearly complete barrels requiring only the extractor notch to be cut.
This could be a route to go:
