The importer was persuaded to sell these rifles through the Red Star Military Museum and Sales, an act that he later deeply regreted. This is a good article. I would note the following minor corrections:
"the old gentleman was offered crates of surplus rifles."
He wasn't OFFERED anything. He sought, and went to great lengths to accomplish, the purchase of Remington 1903 rifles which he was aware were stored in England after WWII. After their purchase they were crated for shipment to him.
". . . these crates followed the officer from duty station, to duty station."
Not true.

Quite a grouping - did you all notice that one of the rifles Terry has doesn't have the "Remington" stamped on the receiver? Interesting!!
