Somebody tell DARPA I want my tax dollars back!! First the Tracking Point scope, ok maybe, but a guided bullet? What will ONE of these beauties cost? Don't we have missiles that do this already...

But then, how does it know what the target is?

It's laser guided.
Until they come up with a phaser that can be set to "stun" or "make the dude disappear in a blinding fireball of GET SOME!!!".... I'm not impressed.

I call fake.
A fin stablized projectile can be guided by the fins or jets due to the low to no rotation . This has no fins so has to spin at high RPM to be stable. Any corrective measure taken ( a jet or pop out fin ) would be on the other side so fast that the effect would be cancled at best and more likely result in tumbles .

Nope, not fake. None of the stories I've read so far explained exactly how it works but it is guided to the target via laser.
