Question How do I sort/display threads and posts?

If you are finding it difficult to locate threads and information in any of our Milsurp Knowledge Librariesicon and wanted to know if they could be re-ordered. I thought everyone knew this, but I guess many don't, so here goes.......

At the top of any forum (ie: Canadaicon - Milsurp Knowledge Library), there's a header line that says:

Threads in Forum : Canada - Milsurp Knowledge Library ________ Forum Tools Search this Forum

Thread / Thread Starter _____________ Rating ____ Last Post ____ Replies Views
If you click on Thread, the listing of threads gets sorted and re-displayed in alphabetical order by Subject. If you click on Thread Starter, the listing of threads gets sorted and re-displayed in alphabetical order by the poster's name. If you click on Last Post, the listing of threads gets sorted and re-displayed in the order of the most recent posting date. Got the idea!

Finally, the options titled Forum Tools and Search this Forum are drop down boxes that show other options, including whether you want to subscribe to the forum and be automatically notified by email of any new posts. For this option to work, you need to have it also set in your User CP (User Control Panel) in the top left corner of your MILSURPS.COM display.

The Search this Forum option lets you search just within the individual forum only. It's different from the global Search function that appears up under your name in the top right corner of the screen. This individual forum search function can be used for isolating your search, for example within the MKLicon only, in order to just look for specific information. Note: the search string must be greater than 4 characters.

Once you're reading posts, there's also a set of options at the top of the screen as follows:

    Post Reply

______ Thread Tools ____ Search this Thread ___ Rate Thread ___ Display Modes
The Thread Tools drop down box let's you show a printable version of the post, which can be valuable for wanting to print a hard copy of research for later review. The Display Modes drop down box let's you select one of three ways to display all of the posts in any thread.

    1. Linear Mode
    2. Switch to Hybrid Mode
    3. Switch to Threaded Mode

Experiment with these options and see if they improve the speed and efficiency with which you're able to use not only the Milsurp Knowledge Library, but also on any forum within MILSURPS.COM in general.

Hope this helps some of you.......

    Regards,
    Badger
