Will M1, 30-06 Springfield Rifle Gauges work for 1917?
I've got a set of gauges to measure MW and TE but they don't mention the 1917 anywhere on the package. Will these work? Thanks!
John

The Muzzle Wear gauge is the same, but the Garand Throat Wear gauge doesn't work. You can use a M1903 throat gauge on the M1917.

RE: Use of 1903A1 TE gauge on a Model of 1917. I don't think it can be used. My quick measurement indicates a difference in the distance from the bolt face to the rear of the receiver ring, when the bolt is in battery, between the 1903 and 1917. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I appreciate the help. My throat erosion gauge - non 1917 - tells me my new 1917 is at 2.5. I wonder what this really means?

I tried a different method of measurement. I firmly inserted a lightly lubricated USGI round in the chambers of my 1903, then my 1917. Using a small, finely marked steel ruler I measured the distance from the head of the round to the back of the receiver ring. The distance was just under 28/32 for both rifles. So, I would now agree that the USGI TE gauge can be used for both.
