Many thanks to the landowner for giving me the OK for a trip to my British army dump site permission last Wednesday. A great dig with plenty more to add to my collection, including some more brackets from a BESA case catcher bag.
One item was a first, and a very VERY nice item it was. Trigger and grip from a Lewis MG Everything else I've seen before from the site, but not a Lewis trigger
Still cannot ID the item I have taken 3 shots of from various angles. It has been suggested it is an attachment for launcher an Energa grenade from a Lee-Enfield, but I can't find a picture of anything that looks like it. Any thoughts? Hate being beaten by a bloody relic......
Oh, and the little block of metal I think is an action from a Remington Rolling Block.
I have the same affliction. I found myself near the ammo cooker in the sand dunes of Camp Wainwright one Saturday afternoon and you'd be surprised how long one can spend digging like a dog, with his front paws. Then too, how much stuff, like AP bullets can be found. I still have some today. That was in the '80's...
I used to have a problem when in the field, I'd be walking around looking down...specially if we were out in the US bases. Once downrange, where they don't go...there's scads of stuff.
