ANZAC 100th year services Capel West Aus 25/04/1915 ~ 25/04/2015
Today marks the 100th year since the combined forces went ashore at Galipolli and began the legend that forms A.N.Z.A.C. At the dawn service today which was the first ever held by our little town it was overwhelmed with people (400+). It was held at a place called Peppermint Grove Beach and the sound of the surf made it all the more poignant to mark the occasion. We that could have never be there will not understand their world of mud, death and fire.
But one thing that always surfaces among all the tales of that fated campaign was "Mateship" and you never let your mates down. I look forward to joining all the others on this day in our nation and am humbly honored to wear my fathers medals, my only wish he was here so he could wear them.
So I am off again shortly for the march through our small town and will hopefully get a couple of pics of myself and 16 y/o son.
To all that have given all from myself and all the other sons/daughters of the A.N.Z.A.C's from which ever conflict they went I humbly thank you for my freedom that I enjoy with my family.
Had to change the figure of attendees to the dawn service 1000
Here are a couple of pics (And a gotcha moment!) post march at home with the custom shirts which we are buying the series which is being done up for the ANZAC days the owner had to get special permission from the armed services to utilize the rising sun image. So far we have the 1914, The departure of the first fleet from Albany W.A and this Centenary shirt. The rising sun its original design was a semi circle of bayonets protecting the crown of the King and it adapted to what we have today.
