Looking for a London gunmaker ca. 1650
Hey all,
I was talking with one of my bosses who mentioned he has flintlock pistol marked
Ketler & Adams
London
I believe he said the date on the pistol was 1643 though I may be confusing that with when his family came over to the colonies. Have any of you guys ever come across a reference to this manufacturer?
Thanks in advance!

1643 is not impossible for a flintlock pistol, but statistically unlikely.
Ketler not listed in Stoeckel.
Lots of Adams. But none in 17th C. London, and only Alexander Adams in the flintlock era (Alexander Adams, London and Birmingham, ca. 1780-1810)
Please check your info! Best of all: get a good picture of the entire pistol, and the markings. Ketler may be a misreading.

Thanks Patrick,
I passed your post on to my boss who (I had hoped) would have gotten around to taking a picture of it by now. I was also mistaken on two points. His family emigrated here in 1673, not 1643 as I had stated, and the pistol itself is not dated.
I'll post pictures when I get them.
Cheers
