I read the post and I don't know about cabela's but the guy who stated he can't find reloading components in RI isn't looking too hard.I live in RI and went to three gunshops Fri. and all had primers and plenty of powder, all 1lb cans but all you wanted.I think alot of people are fabricating these shortages.I also don't go to cabela's or any of the big stores and do all my business in real gunshops.
I almost forgot ,if you wanted any black rifle they had all you wanted. One shop had at least 30 on the wall, and cases of ammo all calibers all over the floor.SHORTAGE? not in RI.

I live in the Puget Sound area. A couple weeks ago I went to buy IMR4895, a brick of large rifle primers and Hornady 150gr FMJBT. I went to Sportco (a local sporting goods warehouse type store), G.I. Joe's, Welchers (local shop), Bulls Eye (local shop), Sportsmen's Warehouse & the new Cabelas. None of the stores had what I needed except Bulls Eye had primers for $49.99 per thousand and some fancy match type bullets for $50.00. I went to Cabelas and they had all that I needed except I bought IMR4350 for $22 instead of IMR4895 (they were out), CCI 200 for $29.99 per thousand & the Hornady bullets for under $25. I haven't checked out the stores lately so I don't know what their in stock condition is.

I live in the same area as stonewall56. I can vouch for the "shortage in this area. One local shop had 6 black rifles but the prices were definately top end. I talked with one of the owners (stopped in the shop yesterday) and he said it was a "slow day" because of the gunshow in Monroe and bad weather. The shop had more customers in it than it normally does that I recal. Anyways he said its been a zoo since the election. They have primers and powder backordered with no real idea when it will come in. He also said he he is out of many compnants be cause he wasn't price gouging. His shop is just selling at current MSRP be cause he figures when the panic buying is over he will still have his regualr customers that way. That is if the feds and state don't put him out of business.

Yesterday
I have just finished reloading some things, so went by the local small store I have frequented for years. Out of a lot of powders, brass etc.
Owner had told me a couple of days ago his distributors had said april or may, maybe, on resupply.
Now having said that, I had just finished up using a jug of hp38, found some that had just come in, so bought a replacement jug for 22bucks.
He had about ten or 15 slieves of winchester primers they had just gotten in going for about 30bucks per thousand with the exception of small rifle which they said they just couldn't get.

First time they were well stocked with supplies but mostly geared towards hunting, self-defense and bulk plinking rounds. Very little for competitors.
Second time there were noticeable gaps in some of their stock.
They do have a few interesting used rifles but you have to spend alot of time picking thru everything.
