I think its a commercial contract for a foreign government as I have a Enfield revolver with the letters SRG then 3 numbers stamped in to the frame.

If you buy it, I would be grateful for information on all its markings, and some more photos. I am studying these commercial contract rifles and every bit helps.

    Thanks!

For comparison, here are pics of a Mk IV Martini Henry. It has SRG (Southern Rhodesia Govt.) stamps of the knocks form and the butt. SRG took over from the Britishicon South Africa Company, and ceased to exist when Rhodesia came into existence. There are also two Union of S Africa acceptance stamps (U containing broad arrow) and one Union of SA sold-out-of-service stamp (U containing diamond) - these U of SA stamps date from 1910-1961. The history is either: 1890s: BSACo / Matabele Wars; 1920s used by SRG military forces; WW2 drafted into SA service during the emergency, and sold out of service from SA after WW2; or 1899-1902 used for blockhouse defence by SA (black) troops in Boer War, sold out of service after 1910 and shipped north to SRG.
