Guts of Dad's inland... pic heavy

What time frame is a 269,XXX Inland?

    Here's pics:

I didn't take the trigger group all the way down. I did that when we first got it and I don't feel like doing it again. It doesn't need it.

were these made by Union Switch and Signal? It has that circle with two "SS"es. The one I have to replace it with has the same thing. But not as worn.

There's just an M on there. And no leg for the 30 rounders.

That's the only marking on the recoil plate. Nothing on top.

About March 1943 for your serial number. Quite a few later Inland parts and a type 3 Underwood trigger housing. Safety is not US&S but a late war/post war replacement. During rebuilding the type 4 magazine catch for the 30 rounds were reserved at first for the M2 carbines while the type 3 like yours were used on standard M1icon's.

That's real nice carbine. You want the trigger housing to be snug in the receiver - no wiggling. This is done by peening the lugs on the housing, not the receiver. The rear sight in in it's original finish, which means it hasn't been refinished since the original overhaul. You don't find too many of them today that still have the white paint in the markings. I bet it's a good shooter.

Thank you. The trigger group is pretty darn tight. I will say it moves a micro bit. How much, I don't know but WAAAAY less than my carbine. Mine sloshes around like... like... a 1/4 nut on a 1/8" bolt I guess.

I'm hoping it's a good shooter. Mine seemed to have "acceptable" accuracy and the little bit I shot this one it seemed the same. But maybe if I get to spend some more time with it, I'll wring it out good. I'm hoping I can get it to run good.

Yes sir it is. It was in my first thread about it. That's why I didn't repost. But thank you on the picture compliment.

About the accuracy - it's 'minute of barn'. Take a look at the 100 yard sighting target - the acceptable impact area is 12" high x 16" wide!

Plus, the carbine was designed and sighted for the 6:00 hold, so the optimal point of impact at 100 yds is 6" above the point of aim. Just to let you know before you start 'fixing' things.

Thank you. I tried to find a PDF of those targets and I couldn't I can find pics of them, but they don't come out the right size.

I know my carbine shoots low. But I've never had the gonads to file the front sight down. Again, not wanting to ruin an old warhorse or part.

Well, my Dad's Inland is all back together and begging to be shot. I put the new Orion7 op slide spring in. It measured 10-5/16" and man does the action feels a lot different. I'm hoping it helps with digesting ammo properly. And a HUGE thank you to imarangemaster for the new recoil plate screw. It wasn't the escutcheon. It screwed in beautifully. In fact, when I screwed it in, the barrel raised up a bit over the channel in the stock. Which I think is a good thing. Meaning it's nice and snug in there.

Can't wait to see if she will run good now.
