Id canadian tool roll leather 1941

Rediscovered in my basement where it has resided for many years. Never knew what it was for sure. Anyone recognize it? It is 9 3/4 inches wide by 6 in. when folded, 21 in. long unfolded. Thanks.

I am only guessing, but I would think medical/surgical instruments would not be kept in a leather case. I would expect a leather case would be more suitable for something like a dispatch rider's motorcycle spanner set or tool kit.

If you put tools in a case with that kind of liner and it gets wet...it'll rust everything and never dry. I don't think that case was meant for out in the weather. I've seen syringes of the day, glass barrels and all, stored in a roll much like that.

Not for outside use makes a lot of sense to me. That fabric liner has the potential to stay wet for days. Thanks for the input.
