    1945 Ithaca...

    Hi Guys,
A friend brought this pistol over for me to look at. It's a 1945 Ithaca with a General Shaver mag ,'42 Sears holster and GI web belt. He says it was the pistol he carried in Korea during his war service there. To my inexperienced eye the pistol appears to have the correct parts and finish but it does bear the stamp of the Ogden Arsenal on the frame. Were pistols always refinished when the arsenals got a hold of them or were some just stamped, left alone and put back in circulation? What would be a fair price to offer for it?The pistol has holster wear and the exposed part of the Flannery barrel is missing finish from having the slide racked. Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks & best regards,
    Len

Too bad it has that bad spot on the slide. IMO, that kind of knocks the value down a bit.

Not all pistols sent to the Arsenal were refinished. If the finish was bad, then it would have been reparked. The Ithaca is a very late example but since it is an Arsenal rebuild (OG) and the finish has some issues, I would put an $850 to $950 price tag on it.
