I'm so sorry to hear that. He was an historic leader, the type all combat leaders wish they could be. I wish we could put a hold on time so we can keep those types around us.

I'm not surprised that his passing was kept low keyed. You would expect Winter's would want it that way.
Who wouldn't proudly follow a leader like Dick Winters?......Frank
Some of his vet bringback pistols sold on Simpson Ltd a year or so ago. Arty Luger and another one I forget. About $15,000 apiece. Definitely a keepsake to have something like that.

Winters hated war, but was very good at it when his country called. He led by example and with great courage. He was exceedingly humble. I cannot think of a finer example of a citizen soldier.
