Barrel correct for receiver?
With all the confusion over S'G'/Saginaw serial number useage, what is the possibility that an Underwood 2-44 barrel could be original to S'G' #1863xxx? Thanks for your imput.

Nope. S'G' made their last deliveries to the govt in Dec 1943. The latest barrel dates you'll see on S'G's is 12-43. Around 8 or 9-43 would be expected on your receiver. Hope this helps

The majority of barrels that S'G' used at the end of their production were from there sister plant in Saginaw, MI. Followed by Underwood 12-43 and Inland 12-43.

In reality Inland only shipped 291 barrels to S'G' in December 1943. S.G. shipped 1129 barrels to S'G' the same month while Underwood shipped 13,335 to them during the final month of S'G' production.

Thanks Bruce, I did not know the Underwood #. To me it looks like the 11,097 barrels that SG sent in Nov. were used in Dec. production so I was going by that plus the 1129 sent in Dec.
