1903 parts you do not find very often
Here are some 1903 parts you do not find very often - these came out of gun show part boxes and sold for normal value. The SA rear sight leaf is also without the top rib.

I remember about 3-4 years ago, I found a CVC-marked firing pin (cocking piece) in a gunshow seller's parts box which I paid five bucks. Sold it on eBay for $75. Not a bad profit!!

About 10 years ago I found 5 brand new B&S (Browne & Sharpe) bolts at a show. 4 were packed in the boxes (2 to a box). I paid $5 a box. What a chore to peel off that waxy wrapping paper.

another difficult part to find
found this early rear sight base at a gun show too, the leaf is SA. Everyone that I have ever seen before was already on a barrel.

does the rear sight have a file type edge on the left side? is so its geniune early sight, with a replacement adjustment slide.
if not, then someone removed the rib.
the trigger is likely a replacement sight made after 1937 is it marked CV or NM as well??

rear sight leaf
Here is a photo of the sight leaf, it has the rib on top, also the notch, the slide is #6 hole. Could be a replacement leaf ? the color of the leaf matches the base.
The trigger only has the number without any NM or CV markings

show a picture of the left side of the sight ladder, of the first one to have.
and the under side as well.
if its an early sight, it should have no slide stop, and a file edge on the left side.
the slide should have a spring and detent on the inside to ride in the file edge.

leaf with square slide
The leaf with the square slide is without the rib at the top, it never had the rib. The slide has the platinum line

RCS,
I think Chuck is trying to see if the left side of the sight ladder is serrated (very fine crosshatch).
