    1907 Bayonet unit identification

    Hello,
Looking for some assistance on identifying the unit markings on this hookie I have...it is marked "2 I.F." on the pommel. The only thing I'm coming up with is 2nd Batt. Irish Fusillers?

    Thanks!

Possible, someone will be along in a minute to confirm or deny. How about some more pics of this one? Where'd you find this one?

I picked it up from a local collector/friend who has had it in his personal collection for many years. It is my first curved quillion 1907 and I am very happy with the condition. I really like the matching rack # on the scabbard. Looks like an Enfield made in 1910 without the clearing hole. Not sure where the scabbard fits into it's history...original or post WWI replacement?

    Here are some additional pictures.

Looks like the correct scabbard for age, it has the teardrop frog stud. Looks very nice...

Thanks...I saw a hookie last night on kijiji in your area(BC) without a scabbard going for $80! It was already snatched before I even had a chance to message the seller. Hopefully someone on the board was able to pick it up. Looked a little beat but, did look like the real thing.

I would be so wary out here, I saw one at the Calgary show that was spurious and one at the Chilliwack show. I told both vendors and when I returned later on a walkpast, they'd both gone. Both men acted curiously when I told them of concerns. I still don't know if they sold or were hidden for later. Knowing that they could be around here, I'd be very wary.

Nice bayonet, but looks like its been re ground or similar near the ricasso, the crown would never have been ground away like it is, the radius is a lot more than a standard 1907 with or without quillion, the true edge tends to end just past the end of the fuller.
