No 4 Mk I (F) 8/48 PF35418 SAN marked. FTR or not?
Good day.
I have mentioned this rifle in a previous post, I am considering buying. I just want to clarify that this would be a 1948 built Fazakerly Mk I issued to the South African Navy (possibly).
If I'm reading the markings properly it has not been FTRd yet, just a post-war manufactured rifle. Am I correct in this assumption?
The rifle, bolt (hollow), magazine, stock are all matching SNs. It is a Mk I with the bolt release. Curious to me is the magazine floorplate is tapered or "waisted."
Anyway, I understand this rifle to be a bit more desireable / semi-unique, even though it isn't a wartime manufacture. At $329 I understand it also is in the realm of a reasonable price.
Unfortunately photo showing "waisted" magazine floor plate and full view photo of rifle are too large at this time. I'll try and edit and reload later.
Thanks again all.
Niels

Its a standard 1948 No4 Mk1, not refurbished, and the marks are indeed South African Navy.
Judging by observation of rifles coming out of South Africa at the moment, most of the last Mk1 and early Mk2 production went there.
