    5 Round Mag.

    HI,
Anybody know how to convert a 15rd Carbine Mag. into a 5 rd. for hunting without damaging the 15rd Mag. All my Mags. are USGI and hate to mess one up.
I know you can buy 5rd Mags but don't have time to order one for this year. My Grandson asked if I had a rifle that he could use. You know kids wait until the last few days before deer season opens.
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Dick

You cannot miss with USGI mags!
You can cut a piece of wood to fit the spring loose. trial and error.
I know you mentioned not ordering, but look at this device
    M1 Carbine - Magblocks - Products
the 30/10 can be cut and ground on a grinder fairly quickly as it is plastic.
could also give you an idea for a wood block

    5 Rd CARBINE MAG

    Frank,

I received the clips last night in the mail when I got home.
The 5 Rd and I didn’t expect a 10 Rd also, both were in new condition
They are very nice, and I am very happy with them. I had told my 12 year old grandson that the next time he could use a 1943 M1 Carbine when he went dear hunting and that the rifle was a piece of history of the USAicon and it could have been used in WW2. His eyes lit up and he said really. My remark to him was remember that many guy’s gave there life so he could enjoy his life today as a free American.

I really appreciate that you went out of your way to get me these clips. Guys like you are the reason that the Military Surplus Collectors Forums are the quality and the best Forums around. Every body is so helpful and willing to make it what it is today.
    Thank You for your Generosity.

After the Sandy Hook bogus incident, when everyone was freaking out, these 5 rds were fetching $95 on Ebay.

In 1989 GI 15 round mags were between $1.00-$2.00 at the time. Depending if you bought the whole 100 magazine case ($1.00 each) or loose ($2.00 each). I bought a few of the 5 round mags for 75¢. Never a big hit with carbine owners.
