Second bayonet seems to be a K98kicon bayonet modified post war for use with a US M1icon rifle.

I think the first bayonet is a Brazilianicon model M1908 bayonet it was used with the M1908 Mauser.

Why did Norway do the M1icon bayonet mod? It was cheap. Norway had purchased 98k rifles and bayonets from Germanyicon pre-war. Then the Germans occupied Norway, bringing tons of 98k rifles and bayonets, all of which were left behind when the Germans went home. Norway also rebarreled a bunch of ex-German 98k rifles in .30-06 as reserve weapons behind the U.S.-provided M1's. A couple of years ago, someone from Norway told me that, although they have surplussed the military 98k's, they still carry the 98k in locomotive cabs for dispatching reindeer that are hit on the tracks.

Norway did a similar modification of the M1894 Krag bayonet for use on the M1 Carbines supplied by the U.S. My M1 Carbine and Norwegianicon-modded M1894 bayonet are pictured in Roger Evans' article on the Norwegian M1 Carbine bayonet conversions that was published in the September/October 2012 issue of The Armourer magazine.

Both Norwegian-mod bayonet types are pictured on the Norway page of my site.

again, thank you.. I have the K98K converted to 06. Plus I have the modified scabbard for the modified Krag to M1icon carbine bayonet. That' s enough, I'm getting overloaded. Anyway I have it all, except the G3 stuff..... Gary
