My 1st ever Martini action rifle: Greener Cadet in 32-20

I picked up a cool little Greener Cadet the other day. I saw it and I really wasn't in the market for a new firearm, but it was an oddball so i looked.

The money was right but what really drew me to it was the Greener name...and the fact it is chambered in 32-20. Greener is on my bucket list and even though this isn't the SxS I had envisioned, it fit the bill, even if it wouldn't shoot.

The (I assume) importer had it rechambered probably in the 50s and 32-20 is over-stamped on the top of the barrel. I lthrew together some mildly loaded 32-20 with cast bullets and even though the rifling mostly a thing of the past, it shoots and ejects fine, which is more than i expected.

The rifle seems to be all correct with the exception of the buttstock which looks to be a BSA.

This rifle was apparently used by cadets in Queensland because of the Q stamped into the receiver...and my understanding is the Australianicon Government only contracted with Greener for a 1908 purchase, with subsequent rifle primarily built and supplied by BSA and a few others.

They are very nice little rifles. One of these cadet rifles was the second milsurp I bought way back when I can hardly remember when. I know it was shortly after my first child was born so 30+ years ago. Gun auction from hell before I started calling it that. Saw the kangaroo stamped on the top and decided I had to have it and believe it or nor my wife agreed because of the the same kangaroo. It had been "sporterized" although no idea why anyone would want to do that to such a small rifle. I didn't even know it at the time, took years before I found out they had full stocks. Corrected it probably 20 years after buying it. It's now complete and correct. It's a Birmingham also converted to 32-20 and WA stamped on stock and receiver.

I also have a BSA altered to 32-20. There are healed bullet molds that allow you to use a correct diameter bullet. Great fun. Mine has a BSA tang sight added.

I'm thinking about trying some hollow base bullets to see if they work fine in the bore
