    K98 cleaning rod guide/muzzle cover

I have what I believe to be a Yugoicon K98icon cleaning rod guide which fits onto the muzzle of the K98 rifle. It is a very simple device with a hole through it and it clips onto the foresight hood. There is no kind of flap to it. I can not see any markings on it. Does any-one know the history of these items? Was it just the Yugoslavs who used them post war or did the Germans use them during WW2? Did other countries use them as-well? Thank-you for any information.

AFAIK WWII Germanicon Kar98K muzzle covers come in two flavours. The earlier type:

    The Collector's Guild

And the slightly simplified later type:

I believe the latter is slightly scarcer. I'm not sure what they would have used on captured guns.

Thanks, for the reply and excellent pictures. The muzzle attachment which I have is completely different from your pictures in that there is no flap. I believe that it is just a guide for the cleaning rod. I'm sorry that I don't have the facilities to post any pictures, at present. It has been suggested that this item was made post war in Yugoslaviaicon and I was hopping for more information on it.
