A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. The price of guns has been going up all over the US. Gun sales have been breaking records almost every month for the last 6 months and a lot of companies have stopped taking new orders.

I haven't noticed any huge jumps in price lately, nothing like when Obama was elected, but there has been a slow, steady rise.

I have to agree on some guns going up in price. I dabble in 1903's, and have watched them go up. However, I am mostly an AK and AR kit builder. I remember getting Romy "G" kits for around $100.00 with a barrel. Now, similar kits go for $300.00 without barrels (now banned from import).
So why have Romy and Yugoicon kits skyrocketed.... especially with NO barrel... did they run out of AK's in the world? ?
When I started collecting Japaneseicon rifles, people would mock you for buying one... and generally you didn't find them for over $200.00. Now, that seems to be the going price... on up.
Looking at 870 Shotguns recently, I don't think the price has gone up.... so it is a mixed bag.
1917 Enfields were regarded as serious collectors when I started. Now, they have gone up in price just like the 1903's, especially as people realize that they were a main arm during WWI, and we near the 100 year mark for that war.
Some of the prices have to do with the increased price of steel and energy... especially with new guns...
Just some idle thoughts, I am sure others have different opinions...

I bought my GP-WASR (Romy AK) about 6 years ago for $289 with the magazines and bayonet at my local gunshow. If you would have told me I could get twice that within 6 years I would have bought a truckload. Funny how some things work isnt it?
