    Defamation

In law, defamation (also called calumny, libel, slander, and vilification) is the communication of a statement that makes a false claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government or nation a negative image. Slander refers to a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report, while libel refers to any other form of communication such as written words or images. Most jurisdictions allow legal actions, civil and/or criminal, to deter various kinds of defamation and retaliate against groundless criticism. Related to defamation is public disclosure of private facts which arises where one person reveals information which is not of public concern and the release of which would offend a reasonable person.
"Unlike libel or slander, truth is not a defense for invasion of privacy."

With thanks to "krinko", a new addition has been added to the Technical Articlesicon for Milsurp Collectors and Re-loaders forum:
Technical Articles/Research for Milsurp Collectors and Re-loaders (READ ONLY) - Military Surplus Collectors Forums
A Short Tour Of Three Humped Enfields
    Military Surplus Collectors Forums
I used to think that with collecting Lee-Enfields, we were relatively immune to fakery, as the pricing was low enough you would think nobody would see a lot of value or return on time investment, in proportion to the amount of work needed to deceive someone. I figured it was something that was going to remain in the world of K98kicon collecting and other German wartime paraphernalia. I guess I was wrong.

    Hello folks....

There seems to be some negative feedback about the publishing of krinko's recent article titled "A Short Tour Of Three Humped Enfields" (click here). We have been asked politely and not so politely, as well as being threatened with litigation claiming libel and slander, if we don’t remove his article from public view.

Upon advice of counsel, the article will remain accessible to any members who wish to read it. This is a private site for registered members only. As many members have already chosen to do so, the "Collector's Comments and Feedback" section at the bottom of the article remains accessible for anyone to add their opinions, both pro and con, to krinko's original observations. If anyone would like their comments added and assuming the content is relevant and focuses on the original topic of krinko's content, then as with all Knowledge Libraryicon entries, they simply need to email me their content for consideration and vetting by the Advisory Panelicon to badger@milsurps.com.

I don't want these discussions to turn into public displays of name calling and emotional rhetoric. It needs to be stated once, and clearly for the record. Krinko's article is personal commentary and purely his own opinion, based upon his own personal experiences. ALL of the "Collector's Comments and Feedback" notes are of the same personal opinion nature, and if anyone takes the time to read the very last paragraph of any article of this type that we publish which expresses personal observations, they will find the following disclaimer.

Note: The opinions expressed herein or statements made in the article and collectors comments are solely those of the authors, and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Military Surplus Collectors Forums, or the ownership and moderation group of this site. MILSURPS.COM accepts no legal liability or responsibility for any claims made or opinions expressed herein.
In summary, if anyone would like to continue this discussion through private correspondence, with either myself or our counsel, please let me know. In the meantime, I have closed this thread so we can refocus back on the main issue and topic of this forum, which is providing members with quality information and research for serious collectors of Lee Enfield arms, accessories, ammunition, and accoutrements.

    Thanks for listening......

    Regards,
    Badger (Doug)
