Question about an odd mark on a K98
I've got a quick question about a mark on another K98 I have. This K98 is another RC with a CE41 receiver. In the middle of the picture there is an odd mark. It's not on my s/27 K98 and I didn't notice it on the other 8-9 other k98's I've looked at. Does anyone have any information on what it is? or means?
Thanks!
Dave

I think it's some kind of commercial proof mark from one of the European proofing houses - done recently. I have a couple K98's with that mark, not all of them RC's either! (but all from imports over the last 10 years or so)

Is there any other marks? Maybe a BNP or crown? It's a European In/X mark for sure. The big question is who dun it. All in all the other marks are pretty cool. I don't have the book in front of me and a wee bit of pain is keeping me off my feet at the moment, but, when I go down to the locker and look up the rest of your markings, hope you can find some more. Sure looks like an X marked receiver with a "T" series strike, Hum very strange. Very nice Nazi strike. I'll be returning to this post soon with a little more info-SDH

I found the Roman numeral was used in lieu of a manufacturers code. There was 18 regional codes, but rarely seen. The Waffen is not numbered, this to cannot be specifically identified. I have seen many 98's with the "T" but can't find any dead tree material on it, sorry I can't be of more help-sdh
