    50 BMG ammo worth collecting?

I was looking at midwayusa.com and they had 1945 50BMG ammo from Twin Cities for 19.99 for 10 rounds. Any one think it would be worth buying a box to collect?

If for your own collection, sure, but not for investment/resale.

    Sure.

.50BMG is just as valid for collecting as anything else in this hobby.

The round came out originally in 1918 and has been manufactured in about 50 countries and for nearly a century and in an amazing variety of loadings. I would be surprised if there were not 1000 different ones out there, all looking for someone to protect them from those evil people who want to shoot them off and then melt them down for scrap.

A collection of .50s WOULD be awfully impressive, to say the least.

BTW, further to this, I have a friend who is a self-proclaimed "big cartridge collector". He has exactly ONE cartridge in his collection, a 105mm casing from a Leopard tank. Might not be many, but it's sure BIG!!!

    Hope this helps.
