Numbers stenciled on M1 Garand & Carbine stocks
I'm getting ready to redo a M1 Garand stock and a M1 Carbine stock...both have faint traces of numbers stenciled on them. I noticed lately after getting on some forums dedicated to old surplus rifles that I've been seeing some other stocks that have numbers stenciled on them them towards the butt. Their either in yellow or white. Can someone shed some light to me about what the numbers were for? thanks

They're history. I would not redo the stocks.
