Ammo box.....L42 ???
Found this in the search for the mounts and bases in "the shed"(tm)
Anyone shed more light on it. I was not aware that the word "sniper" would be used on an ammo container.
Heavens know we would not want to insult anyone. At least not an enemy combatant that we actually hunted them. Must be for training purposes only.

I bought 100 in two of these containers several years ago. Still got 87.
Different RG batch number.

Just as an aside, Warren... if you found "sniper ammunition" in the "mounts and bases" department in "the shed"(tm), perhaps it's time some of us came to visit and maybe help you with a new filing system

Some 1980s black spot is marked "sniper". I've got a few of the 20-round cartons marked this way. I think it may originate from periods when RG was privatising and/or changing its product lines, or when a special purchase was used to replace a shortfall in "green spot" quality or production.

Thunderbox is right. Loads and loads of this so-called sniper grade ammo, sniper GRADE but alas, not actual green spot, went out for competition use. Units could specify it in the old ADAC catalogue. My sons school Cadet Force used to use it in their P-H L81's and later in the L39's that they used to use instead. They got a large ammo allocation for competition use which they took great advantage of, to use in many wonderous and sometimes questionable ways!!!!!!! Including feeding it straight into their L4 Brens!

I had Graeme B from NZ here this summer and always a cuppa or a pint for anyone. Kept wondering why his eyes were on the desk corner when he was using my computer in the den to contact someone, but then when I read is article on the L42 here I see why. Sitting in a pile of rubbish on the desk was one of the cleaning brush bottles for the chest and in the photo's of his L42 in the article guess what was missing. Damned...missed a chance to complete up his set. But then I discovered I also needed it and could use one more.
Anyhow, always a cuppa and a pint and don't say "drop in" unless you have a pint in the fridge or a cuppa to brew as I have been known to do that in the most remote places on earth.
Nice to be back on line after a major problem with the cornfuzer. They are still not sure what happened as many sites and some email slowed to a crawl and I could watch the letters form on the screen after it taking 5 to 10 minutes just to get into a site.
Looks like all is running reasonably well now but might have to up grade to one without a crank on it for power :-)##
Now back looking for an early base for the G & H mount. I seem to recall the base as shipped was about 1/4 inch longer in length (not width).
Anyone here in southern CA ???? Limpetmine???
