Norwegian 45
Well, actually what, 11.25mm?
Had the opportunity to pick up a 1923 Norwegian, appears to be original finish, has what may be the original mag(lanyard loop), s/n 418x, all parts are so marked expect the barrel, which is a P proofed High Standard. Around 90% original finish to my untrained eyes. It was from an estate, got it for $800, the widow was very happy to get it. She had no idea, and I didnt want to stick her, but dont want to have gotten stuck either. Was wondering if I payed too much. Have seen a couple Nazi 'wegians on GB go for over 1400, but I realize they get a premium, and this one did not have the original barrel.
Will post pictures when I get a chance to take them. I figured w/ fewer than 40k made, seemed like an ok deal.
That weird slide stop is really what sold me lol
Thanks for your opinions

Here are some pictures, they sure liked to mark the parts. I guess 90% was a bit, ahh, optimistic, the edges are a little rough, as is the machining. However, still alot of finish for an old traveler like this. The mag looks like a type 3 but without the rounded corners on top. Front site appears to be a "model 1911", shape of recoil housing is "old style", appears to be a short hammer, safety appears to be a Colt 1911 style, all per Clawson.
I probably could have got it for less, as I said, she jumped at my offer. But maybe the karma will extend to my widow someday, when she is trying to eat on the stuff I leave behind. I hope I didnt short her.
Ha, anyone got a 'wegian barrel they want to get rid of?
thanks in advance for any comments.

Since your KV M1914 is fairly early, just about every part will be serial numbered to the frame. Some of the small parts on the early pistols, including barrels and recoil spring guides, have a fire blue-like finish to them.
Although hard to say for certain from the photos, I think the finish on your pistol is original. It should have a matte blue finish over rough machining.
According to the Norwegian records of disposition for KV M1914 pistols, your gun was issued to the Norwegian Guard in 1936.

That is what the finish appears to be, in places such as the rear sight and the back of the evtractor where the machining is smoother, the finish is obviously blue. Elsewhere it appears black.
I will be contacting te lady tomorrow to see if maybe her late husband had a parts bin. Maybe he swapped out the original barrel due to pitting or something. Needs to be explored I guess.
Npw if I could find some dam ammo for it.
Thanks for your reply.

What do you mean by "I could find some dam ammo for it". It takes standard .45ACP and in less you are in a country that forbids civilian from owning "military" ammunition, your local Wally World should have a box. 11.25 mm is the metric designation for .45.

Excuse my sarcasm, but....
When was the last time you looked for pistol ammo at walmart?
Every store in my town is sold out, as is just about every web page I have been to in the last two months.
probably out there just getting really hard to find.
Got any leads? I usually shop Wideners, they are "out of stock"
And I guess I feel pretty well stocked in 45, I'm looking for some good case deals in 223 and 9mm 115 gn now.
