Sir, Tarawa is an atoll, made up of several islands. Most of the fighting was on Betio; after the fight, U.S. facilities were built on Betio and also some of the other islands, including Bairiki. The sailor in the pic (a SeaBee, perhaps?) is probably on one of the other islands.

As an aside, my wife's father (RIP--he died before Cyndy and I met) was stationed at Tarawa shortly after the place was taken. He got there on or about Christmas 1943. He was a gunner on a B25 and was wounded on a mission to Milli in the Marshalls early in 1944.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

Yeah... I have two now both going to be 10 years old, females. One is full blood GSD and about 95 lbs and the other has some Australianicon Cattle Dog mixed in about 80 lbs. I've owned and/or worked with GSD K9's for over 30 years and owe my a$$ to more then one. Fantastic dogs... I wish humans these days were half as loyal and dependable.

    Dogman up.... take the point!

    Repro M1903A4

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone out there has any direct experience with the M84 repro scope manufacturerd by Numrich and if it is possible to fit one to a genuine 1903A3 using no gunsithing mounts.

    Antique Shooter,

You might want to repost as a "new" thread - you might get more responses.
