    A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered.  Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle.     Looks like it's built on a basic Chevy trk. chassis, so I would think chevy parts.......................

    Mechanically it appears all major driveline items are off the shelf parts from the period, some of the body parts would have to hand built if there were issues there, however if it were in Canadaicon and I were looking for an entry level military vehicle I would definitely try to buy it. One of the major concerns that have kept me from expanding my automotive hobby to military vehicles has always been the knowledge of parts obsolescence and availability, and that has always been a budget buster. A military truck with 1970's GM parts should be very easy to keep running opposed to some of the other oddballs out there.

    I pity the enthusiast that someday purchases one of the Canadian LSVW variants and tries to keep that heap running and not on fire.

    The concentric bowl Holley carb (Model 885F?) is interesting. Probably would work better than a Rochester on steep inclines and side hills. Very similar to one I had on a flathead Merc engine when I was a kid. - Bob
