    Talking F.G. Range ready

I finish Franken Gun today. Completely range ready. I wanted something completely out of the box that will shoot straight. I completely reworked the action, squared up receiver, lapped in the lugs, squared the barrel shoulder, cut the chamber to the bolt face etc. Then mounted the chamber section of the barrel to the stock and free floated the action as well as the barrel. By all accounts it should shoot straight, we'll know for sure after the next trip to the range-SDH

Well I got it to the range, Fired a bunch of sight in rounds. Two shots in a very small group then adjust. Almost got it centered and the sky broke open. I guess it wasn't meant to be, yet. I'll have to try again next week. It doesn't kick and seems to have group potential. It stayed tight and had a real nice ring when fired, even repelled the rain, now if I can only get some bench time-SDH

Back to the range today, the gun shot consistent 1" groups with S.A. ball and many mickey mouse groups. Truly outstanding performance. Now I've got to figure a way to build a more traditional looking gun with the same traits, mount the gun by the barrel and suspend both the barrel and the receiver. I've got a lot of projects going right now so the next big build will most likely start in September. Lots of time to think tis one out-SDH

Sounds great - congrats on that one. It certainly looks unique and sometimes variety is a beautiful thing
