This month, ~Angel~ completed her 1944 REL C Mk1 Sniper Observers Scope set. Only 500 sets were manufactured by REL.

Would the serial numbers have been all matching when originally issued?

I gather from stencollector, that they were just issued out without a lot of attention to making sure the sets were all serial numbered, as there wasn't any necessity or value in it. I've never seen a fully matched set....

Here's a teaser for this month's acquisition that I've been hinting at
Full photos to come once some accessories arrive next week. A cookie to the first person to ID it. And yes, it goes bang
PS: Stevo and Badger can't play cuz they already know the answer...

Glad to hear it still goes bang. Something that was adopted ca 1934?

Last one of these I shot was the same make, '45 dated, CA, had lots of intact chickens, also had the Hebrew stamps, adjacent to the birds. I was impressed with its accuracy.

Yeah, I think there's a reason the belts were usually only 50 rds long on the MG series weapons. Like many machineguns, if the original sear design got worn, damaged, or overly peened, they'd run away. The high cyclic rate also means that the runaway won't last all that long though
While a full-auto one is DEFINITELY the way to go, I honestly don't know ANYONE grandfathered back far enough who also owns an MG34 that still rocks and rolls... barring pre-68 registered automatics in the US, that is.
