    VB Launcher

Just picked up this MKIII VB Launcher for my M1917. I had been looking for a US VB Launcher for several years for my Rifle Grenade display.

Nice, and very scarce! I understand they stopped using them because practice was difficult in the U.S.

Launched by live ball ammo. The grenade has a hole through the center for the bullet to pass, as it does it hits that little arm which hits a primer, which sets the fuse burning!.... The high angle of fire with the M1icon heavy ball caused many rounds to leave the range area, one of the reasons to go back to the M1906 bullet (M2).

The situation was worse with the VB launcher than with normal range firing, because the grenade launcher was often used at close to a 45 degree angle, so the bullet would have absolute maximum range.

Not to mention that in the early trials the grenade would not arm. The 30 cal bullet would not smack that little striker in the 8mm hole of the french grenade.

Sorry but, no Petersen Device here. Rifle Grenades are my chosen sickness.
