VIHTA VOURI N-150 in the Garand

I've been using N-140 for some time now thanks to John Kepler. It's performance has been good, but now I'm pondering trying the N-150.
In the Hornady manual they state that they got their best results
using the N-150. So I figure if I can get even better results using
the N-150 over the N-140 that would be a good thing.

Anyone out there tried the N-150 ?

If so - how did it work out.

    Thanks > Jocko

Just a thought but loads in the Hornady manual are not developed with the M-1 Garandicon in mind. You need to check that N-150 will not present pressure problems when loaded to produce useful ballistics. JMHO. Sincerely. BruceV.

N150 is good stuff.....but is probably too slow for a Garandicon. I'd be VERY cautious about using it without a McCann device or something like it.

There is a thread over at CMPicon right now where the cylinder pressure was measured. N150 was one of the powders used.

Looks safe to me. I also read where Hornady stated it was their best powder in the M1icon.

    Good enough for me.

Yep the 7th edition of the Hornady Manual has Garand specific load data. N150 is the powder that they got the best results from.

Just remember to reduce starting loads by 10% and work your way up.

The burn rate is a little slower than Varget but still faster than 4350. You can check here for burn rates:
