    Gun Laws In New Hampshire

    Gang,

Just heard from a friend's Mom that he had moved to New Hampshire from California (for mega-bucks at an aerospace firm so that's OK).

He wants a self-defense weapon (don't know what he means by that or whether he intends to carry it).

I am totally unfamiliar with NH gun laws so I need some help. A lot will depend on whether he can legally carry it as if that's illegal, I'll probly go with a 12 gauge pump riot gun.

Can anyone give a quick overview regarding the NH gun laws? I have a phone call in to my friend and will post further info as I get it.

    Many thanks,

    Joe "Hagar" Ruzich

    NH is very gun friendly.
    just do a browser search.
    No permit or registration
    shall issue CCW permits.
    NH "Live Free or Die"
No gun bans or hi-cap mag bans.
    Big difference from CA.

    Very easy to get a carry permit. Just go to the Town hall for an application, fill it out, return to the Town Hall for Selectmen to approve. The only 2 items that will result in a denial;
    1. Conviction of a felony
    2. Conviction of spousal abuse.
That is it. Nothing needed for buying a rifle or ammo.

Where you go for a CCW in NH depends on the town/city you reside in. For some its the town hall, others its the local police dept.
Open carry is allowed without a CCW. If he hunts there are numerous rules depending on where your at,many areas are shotgun only and in these areas it is not wise to carry a handgun while your hunting unless you have a CCW,even then I've heard of folks getting harrased about it. For the most part though, your friend will think he has landed in paradise as far as gun ownership goes. And no sales tax in this state also makes things more affordable. The downside to no sales tax though is ridiculous property taxes. My single family home on 1.4 acres costs me $7900 a year just for property tax. Tax rates vary town to town but all have risen sharply over the past ten years.
We are also being overrun by the Ma$$-holes migrating north to escape the cesspool they created there. Problem is these idiots bring their same left wing ideals with them when they go to the voting booth and slowly we are turning into nothing more then an extension of that sorry a$$ state.

Right you are M1riflenut. I am in Columbia, next to Colebrook. It is the Town hall here...we do not have a Police force, we don't even have a zip code.

Man I wish I was living up there in your area!! I used to hunt the Little Diamond area often,my buddies grandfather had a camp right on the shoreline not to far from the Sportsmen Lodge. He died and the family sold it years ago. I miss that area.
I'm stuck down here in Manchester which is slowly turning into a cesspool. It gets worse each year, basically an extension of that leftist state to the south. Someday I hope to be in a position to bail out and head north,or to Montana or someplace where they still speak English and the liberals and illegals don't frequent!
