Hello all. My knowledge is nil compared to most I've seen on here, joined up to find out more about an (unfortunately) heavily modified 1904 Carl Gustafs Stads Swedishicon Mauser I inherited through the family.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Hello, I'm new here. I've been a competitive target & action shooter for years with shotguns, pistols, and rifles. Now have become very interested in vintage military rifles. I've been shooting a Swissicon Schmidt-Rubin K31, and have just lately acquired a Springfield 1903, which I am trying to sort out.

I'll look forward to using this forum to help me learn more, and hope to contribute something here and there along the way.

    Friends,

I am a new member of this forum.
Think of me as your friendly neighborhood anthropologist.

I have a bunch of Japaneseicon rifles collected over several years and various M1903's, M1917's, SMLE's and Mausers.

We were about to move to Texas.
My wife asked me to go through the rifles, looking for duplicates.
She asked, "Don't you have enough Type 38's and 99's?"

I went through the collection carefully.
I told her, "You're right about the Japanese rifles, but I have a huge hole in my American and European collection."

Now that we have moved to Texas, I plan to fill in those gaps, starting with knowledge.
I will get new publications, learn the distinctions, and then start adding to my collection.
From time to time, I will ask questions.
Mostly, I will read and learn.

    Best to y'all,

    Q

    Howdy from Texas

I just wanted to say hello from Texas. My interests include virtually all guns; but especially US military firearms. I am a Retired Navy Reserve Supply Officer and work at a local defense contractor. I tend to read a lot more than I post; and I appreciate the knowledge base represented on these forums. Thanks Again. (NavyVet79).

I started collecting surplus about 3 to 4 years ago. I just finish a repair on a type 38 carbine rifle and I have a rusted type 99 that I will work on next.

    First Post and Welcome!!

I discovered the board a while back and have always been interested in military rifles. I have a number of Britishicon Enfields, US Service Rifles, M-1, M1903 Springfields and civilian semi-auto versions of the M14icon and M16 rifles. I also keen on military .22 training rifles of which I have several British No.7 MK1s which I shoot pretty regularly, and several M1922MII Springfield rifles. I am also into semi-auto Belt-feds guns which has become very popular here. I have semi-auto versions of the Browning C5A1, Browning M1919A6, M37, Israeli 7.62mm Browning, Russianicon M1910 Maxim Gun, MG42 and Browning M1917A1. Yes it an expensive addiction!! Its a pleasure meeting new folks with the same general interests.

    Cheers

    fjruple
